What to Do

This place is designed to help you slow down the pace of life. Visitors to the City Garden can enjoy leisurely walks along well-maintained alleys, admiring the harmony of the landscape design. The garden is especially beautiful in spring when hundreds of flowers bloom, turning the park into a real kaleidoscope of colors—a perfect moment for vibrant photos.

For those who prefer a quiet rest, there are cozy benches and designated picnic areas where families can enjoy meals in the fresh air. Art lovers will appreciate the sculptures scattered throughout the grounds, making a walk feel like visiting an open-air museum. Additionally, the park often serves as a venue for local festivals and cultural events, so it's worth checking the city’s event calendar before your visit.

Getting There

Reaching this natural corner from the city center is quite easy. The most pleasant way is a walk from Örebro Central Station. You'll need to walk about 800 meters south along Drottninggatan, then turn right onto Storgatan. After a couple of hundred meters, you will see the entrance to the garden at Floragatan 1.

If you prefer public transport, take bus No. 1 or No. 2, which depart from the station towards the Bergslagen or Häggsvik districts. You need the Stadsträdgården stop, located almost right across from the entrance. The journey takes only about 10 minutes.

For those who enjoy active recreation, cycling is an excellent option. Rental points are available near the station where you can rent a bike. Follow Järnvägsgatan and Drottninggatan—convenient bicycle parking is provided at the park entrance so you can leave your bike before your stroll.

History & Facts

The history of this green corner is closely linked to the development of urban planning in 19th-century Sweden. The City Garden was created as a place accessible to all segments of the population, where nature and culture could exist in symbiosis, providing residents with a space for relaxation and inspiration.

Over the decades of its existence, Stadsträdgården has become an integral part of Örebro's identity. The garden's layout reflects the classical traditions of Swedish park and garden art, with its attention to detail, respect for the natural terrain, and love for open spaces.

Today, the park is considered not just a place for walks, but a living monument to landscape architecture. Careful maintenance of old trees and regular updates to art installations allow the garden to preserve its historical charm while remaining a modern and vibrant space.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to the City Garden, you should allow for approximately 1–2 hours. This is quite enough time to leisurely walk through the main alleys, see the sculptural compositions, and enjoy the silence of the well-kept landscapes.

If you plan to have a picnic on one of the sunny lawns or if your visit coincides with a local festival, we recommend staying longer—up to 3 hours. The park encourages slow-paced relaxation, especially during the warmer months when nature is in full bloom.

Working Hours

The City Garden hospitably opens its doors every day. Monday and Sunday have slightly shorter hours: visitors are welcome from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On other days, from Tuesday to Saturday, the park is open longer—from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

This schedule makes it easy to plan a visit either for a nature-filled lunch break in the middle of a workday or for a full city tour on the weekend.
