What to Do

There is something for everyone at Leksand Resort, regardless of the season. The summer season draws guests to the cool waters of Lake Siljan, where boat trips, bicycle rentals, and hiking along the famous Siljansleden trail are popular. Children will love the outdoor pools, play areas, and mini-golf, while in the evening, the whole family can gather at designated BBQ sites or enjoy vibrant show programs.

In winter, the resort is transformed, becoming an excellent base for winter sports enthusiasts. The Granbergets and Käringbergsbacken ski slopes are very close by, offering skiing and snowboarding. After an active day in the crisp air, it is especially pleasant to relax in a traditional Swedish sauna or visit the spa for restorative treatments.

\n\n

The gastronomic experience is just as important here. Local restaurants with terraces offer exquisite Swedish cuisine, which can be enjoyed while watching the sunset over the lake. For those who value the comfort of home, many cottages are equipped with their own kitchens, allowing for intimate dinners with loved ones.

Reaching this picturesque spot is easy. Leksand Resort is located just 1.5 kilometers from the city center at Siljansvägen 61. If you are traveling by car, the most convenient route is via the E45 highway. For example, the drive from the nearest major city, Borlänge, takes about an hour.

History & Facts

While Leksand Resort itself is a modern complex, it is inextricably linked to the rich cultural heritage of the Dalarna region. This province is considered the "heart" of Swedish tradition, where a unique way of life has been preserved for centuries, reflected in the architecture of its famous wooden manors and churches.

\n\n

The town where the resort is located has long been a magnet for creative minds. The scenic views of Lake Siljan have inspired generations of artists and poets. Today's resort strives to maintain this connection to the past, offering 21st-century comfort in harmony with a natural environment that has remained almost unchanged for hundreds of years.

\n\n

Interestingly, historical gems such as the Hildasholm manor and the ancient Leksand Church are located in the immediate vicinity of the resort. These sites allow tourists not only to relax but also to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of classic Sweden, where crafts and rural traditions still hold a place of honor.

Time Needed

The time you should set aside for a visit depends on your goals. If you are planning a brief stop to simply see the grounds and have lunch with a view of the lake, 4–6 hours should be sufficient. This is enough time to appreciate the scale of the complex and take a stroll along the shore.

\n\n

However, for a full vacation and total immersion in the atmosphere of Dalarna, we recommend staying for 1–2 days. This will allow you to enjoy the pools, summer water activities, or winter ski trails without rushing, as well as visit nearby historical attractions. Most guests prefer to stay here for at least a weekend.

Working Hours

To help plan your visit, please note the reception hours. The guest services office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On Saturdays and Sundays, the reception office is officially closed; however, this does not restrict access to the complex for guests staying on-site.

\n\n

Check-in for cottages and the hotel usually begins at 2:00 PM, and check-out is by 12:00 PM. Please note that the operating hours for pools, restaurants, and equipment rental points may vary depending on the season, so it is best to check the current schedule of activities directly when booking.
