Winters (from December to March) are quite cool here, with average temperatures around 1-3°C, sometimes dropping below freezing. Therefore, at this time of year, you will need warm clothes: a winter jacket, hat, scarf, gloves, and waterproof shoes. Although the amount of precipitation in millimetres is small, the number of days with precipitation (up to 14 in December) indicates frequent, albeit not heavy, rains or wet snow, so a waterproof outer layer will be very useful.

Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) in Kalmar are characterised by changeable weather. Temperatures gradually rise in spring (from 6°C in April to 11°C in May) and fall in autumn (from 14°C in September to 10°C in October). In these seasons, the principle of layering is ideal: a light jacket or windbreaker, a sweater or fleece top, and long and short-sleeved t-shirts.
