In the heart of the historic Gammplatsen area in Lycksele is a unique site — the Forestry and Sami Museum (Skogs- och samemuseet i Lycksele). This cultural and historical space reveals Sweden through its primary wealth — the forest — and its inseparable link to the lives of the indigenous Sami people.

The museum specializes in forestry history and ethnography. Here, you can see the evolution of the industry: from the first axes to giant modern harvesters. The museum building, constructed in 1981, has become home to valuable collections, including "Samiska skatter" (Sami Treasures), which tell the story of the culture and everyday life of the Ume Sami.
In 1987, the museum received a special commendation at the European level for its achievements in heritage preservation. Today, it is a living center of science and technology, where every visitor can touch the history of the Västerbotten region's development.
