History & Facts

The history of this place is inextricably linked with the chronicles of Lausanne itself. The hotel officially opened on June 19, 1915, becoming the only grand hotel in the country to open its doors during that period. It is the last of the great Swiss "palace hotels" to preserve the golden age atmosphere of the Belle Epoque.

The first guest to sign the guestbook was James Gordon Bennett, son of the founder of the famous New York Herald newspaper. Since then, many celebrities and political figures who valued privacy and impeccable service have stayed here.

Interestingly, the lobby bar was named Bar 1915 in honor of the hotel's founding year. In 2007, the complex underwent a major renovation, maintaining its historical appearance while adding modern luxury elements, such as the updated spa center.

Time Needed

To simply enjoy a cup of coffee or a signature cocktail in one of the bars, 1–2 hours will be sufficient. This is enough time to appreciate the interior and the service.

If you plan to combine a restaurant visit with a trip to the famous CBE spa center, it is worth setting aside half a day or even a full day (from 4 to 8 hours). A comprehensive relaxation experience with treatments and time by the pool requires a slow pace without any rush.

Working Hours

The hotel itself welcomes guests 24/7, but each bar and restaurant has its own schedule. Brasserie du Grand-Chene is open from 06:30 to 01:00. The 1915 Bar opens at 08:00, LP's Bar at 10:00, and Habana Bar awaits visitors from 17:00.

As opening hours may change on holidays or depending on the season, it is recommended to check for current information on the hotel's official website before your visit.
