Located within the historical park of the ancient capital of Ayutthaya in Thailand is one of the most impressive and memorable sites—Wat Lokaya Sutha. This temple complex, now a collection of picturesque ruins, attracts travelers from around the world thanks to its main sanctuary: a giant statue of the Reclining Buddha.

The centerpiece of the complex is the monumental statue of the Reclining Buddha, draped in orange robes. It depicts the founder of the teachings at the moment of entering Parinirvana and is considered one of the largest and best-preserved in Ayutthaya. Unlike many other statues, this one is located outdoors, which creates a particularly strong impression against the backdrop of the ancient monastery ruins.
Although only the foundation and a few wall fragments remain of the temple itself, the site has not lost its spiritual atmosphere. Visiting Wat Lokaya Sutha is a chance to connect with the history of the great Ayutthaya Kingdom, which was once one of the most powerful in Southeast Asia. This site is part of the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a must-visit for anyone interested in Thailand's culture and history.
