Wat Na Phra Men is one of the most significant and well-preserved temple complexes in the historic city of Ayutthaya. Located within the ancient capital of Thailand, this active Buddhist monastery is a unique architectural monument that miraculously survived the destruction of the city by Burmese troops in the 18th century.

Unlike most of Ayutthaya's temples, which are majestic ruins today, Wat Na Phra Men has retained its original appearance. This allows visitors to see a classic example of temple architecture from Ayutthaya's golden age. The complex includes several structures surrounded by a wall, with the main prayer hall (ubosot) as the central element.
The temple's main pride is its unique and highly revered statue of the Buddha in royal attire. This statue, one of the most beautiful in the country, depicts the Enlightened One sitting in a "European pose" with legs down. A visit to Wat Na Phra Men is a wonderful opportunity to touch living history and appreciate the greatness of Thai religious art that has come down to us through the centuries.
