How to get to Erzurum

Located on the high-altitude plateau of Eastern Anatolia, the rugged and majestic Erzurum attracts travelers with its ancient history and famous ski slopes. You can reach this important transport hub in Turkey in various ways: from a direct flight to a scenic journey by train or car through mountain passes.

The fastest way to reach the region is by air through Erzurum Airport (ERZ), which receives flights from the country's major hubs. The airport is located just a few kilometres from the city limits, making the transfer quick and convenient. If direct tickets are unavailable, you can consider flying to the neighbouring cities of Bingöl, Muş, or Erzincan; however, a direct flight to Erzurum remains the most comfortable option.

Travelling by rail is one of the most atmospheric ways to get to Erzurum, which is a key station on the route of the famous "Eastern Express" (Doğu Ekspresi). Trains travelling from the western part of the country to the east make a stop here, allowing tourists to enjoy the breathtaking mountain landscapes of Turkey. The railway station is located within the city, providing easy access to the main attractions.

Bus services connect the region with many corners of the country, offering the opportunity to witness the changing landscapes from the window of a comfortable coach. The popular route from the city of Erzincan, covering a distance of about 217 km, takes approximately 5 hours, making the trip comfortable. Modern buses run regularly, ensuring reliable connections with neighbouring provinces.

A journey by car offers freedom of movement and impressive views of mountain passes. A convenient route runs from the city of Bingöl: a distance of 180 km can be covered in just 2 hours 20 minutes. The journey from Erzincan (about 188 km) will take approximately 2.5 hours, while the road from the city of Muş will require about 2 hours 40 minutes (204 km).
