One of the main highlights of the venue is its "tap wall," featuring between 30 and 50 taps. Visitors receive a special wristband that allows them to pour their own beer, cider, wine, or non-alcoholic drinks, paying only for the exact amount poured into the glass. This creates an interactive experience and lets you sample many different varieties in one evening.

Beyond the tastings, it is a great place for active fun with friends. Hold My Beer positions itself as a community space where safety and bright emotions are the top priorities. It’s a place where you can relax in the lounge area, play board games, or test your aim on specially equipped lanes.

What to Do

The main attraction here is, of course, axe throwing. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you can master the throwing technique even if you've never held an axe before. You can book a lane in advance for a competition with friends or join as a walk-in if there are spots available. It’s a great way to relieve stress and get an adrenaline rush in a safe and controlled environment.

Another must-do is the interactive tasting. With the Pour-Your-Own system, you become the bartender: choose your favorite craft beer, seltzer, or wine and pour the desired amount. Between throws, you can head to the game area, where guests have access to free board games, shuffleboard, foosball, and cards.

As for food, the bar offers excellent snacks to pair with your drinks: cheese plates, soft pretzels, and fresh popcorn. For those who are hungrier, the menu features local frozen pizzas baked fresh for you. The fun and casual atmosphere makes it perfect for birthdays, bachelor parties, or unique dates.

Getting There

Hold My Beer is conveniently located in the heart of downtown at 621 56th St, just a few minutes' walk from the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. If you are traveling by car from nearby metropolitan areas, the drive via I-94 takes about 45 minutes from Milwaukee and roughly an hour from Chicago. There is plenty of public parking near the bar, making it very convenient for drivers.

For those who prefer public transportation, the city's Kenosha Transit bus routes stop in the central district, from where the bar is just a few minutes' walk. You can also use taxi services or popular rideshare apps to be dropped off right at the entrance of this entertainment hub.

History & Facts

The story of this unique venue began in October 2022, when Megan Mills and Luke Faulkner, local residents, decided to create something truly special in their hometown. They were inspired by their trips to Milwaukee and Lake Geneva, where they enjoyed the excitement of axe throwing and the convenience of self-service bars. By combining these two concepts, they introduced a brand-new leisure format to the city.

The official opening took place in June 2023 in the building that formerly housed the Gravity Gaming lounge. The founders brought their diverse backgrounds to the project: Megan had a successful career in property management, while Luke managed a hobby shop. Their main goal was to give residents a way to have fun without leaving town and to support the local community.

Today, Hold My Beer is more than just a business; it is a woman-owned project that prioritizes safety, creativity, and team spirit. The establishment actively collaborates with local vendors and has even launched a mobile axe-throwing unit to entertain guests at off-site events.

Time Needed

To fully soak in the atmosphere of the venue, you usually need between 1 and 3 hours. If your goal is simply to try out the self-service system and have a glass of craft beer, one hour is plenty. However, most visitors prefer to stay longer to combine the tasting with a full axe-throwing session.

For larger groups or those who decide to hang out in the board game area, time will fly by. On average, when planning a visit with friends for active recreation and socializing, it’s worth scheduling about two to three hours, especially if you visit on a busy weekend evening.
