Travelling through Aventura Brightline Station differs significantly from the usual bustle of airports or old train stations. To ensure your trip goes smoothly and without unnecessary stress, we have collected several practical tips covering all stages of the journey — from arriving at the station to boarding the carriage.
Arrival Time and Timing
Although boarding Brightline trains is much faster than boarding a plane, you should not arrive at the last minute. The optimal time to arrive at the station is 20–25 minutes before departure. This is enough to calmly pass through security and buy coffee. It is critically important to remember: the turnstiles (Smart Gates) automatically lock 5 minutes before the train departs. If you are late by this moment, you will not be able to access the platform, even if the train is still on the tracks.
Passing Security
The security system here resembles a simplified version of an airport. All bags and suitcases must pass through an X-ray scanner, and passengers through a metal detector frame. The procedure is quick and does not require removing shoes or taking out laptops, but be prepared to put all your belongings on the belt. Weapons and dangerous items are strictly prohibited.
Tickets and Boarding
The station actively uses a contactless system. The most convenient way to store your ticket is the Brightline mobile app. Before approaching the turnstile, open the QR code in advance and increase your smartphone screen brightness for quick scanning. If you are travelling in a group, scan tickets one by one, letting each passenger pass through. You can print a paper pass at kiosks in the hall, but this will take extra time.
Luggage Rules
Since this station does not have a full Checked Baggage service (checking luggage into a baggage car), be prepared to carry all your suitcases yourself right up to the train. The carriages feature spacious overhead racks above seats for hand luggage and special racks for large suitcases at the end of each carriage. Ensure your luggage is not too heavy, as you will have to lift it onto the rack or carry it into the carriage yourself (staff only assist elderly people and passengers with disabilities).
Transfers and the "Last Mile"
If Aventura is not the final point of your route, plan your transfer in advance. Private shuttles are usually on duty at the station exit, but their schedule may vary. It is most reliable to use the Brightline+ service (integrated with Uber/Lyft) directly in the app when purchasing a ticket — this guarantees a car will be waiting for you immediately upon arrival. For those heading to Aventura Mall, no transfer is needed: simply follow the signs to the pedestrian bridge.
Night Waiting
The station does not operate 24 hours a day. The station building closes shortly after the arrival of the last evening train (usually around midnight or 1:00 AM) and opens early in the morning before the first trip. You cannot plan to spend the night at the station — you will be asked to leave the premises. If you have a night transfer or an early departure, it is recommended to book a hotel nearby in advance, as the waiting area outside at night may be uncomfortable, despite good lighting and the safety of the district.
