What to Do

The main reason visitors come here is, of course, for the craft beer tasting. The menu always features a wide range: from light Blonde Ale and classic Pilsner to the rich Wyoming Pale Ale and the bold Ghost Town IPA. All drinks are produced right here on-site, ensuring every pour is as fresh as can be.

Foodies should pay attention to the kitchen, which serves traditional American dishes with a signature twist. Be sure to try the Loaded Sweet Potato Basket—it perfectly complements the taste of a cold brew. The restaurant is great for a hearty lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends.

If the weather permits, be sure to head up to the rooftop terrace. From there, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountain peaks, making your meal even more enjoyable. And if your visit coincides with the weekend or a holiday, you might catch a live music night or even the annual Wind River Brewfest, which draws hundreds of beer lovers in September.

Getting There

Finding this popular spot is easy, as it is located in the very heart of Pinedale. Wyoming's main transportation artery—the US-191 highway—runs right through the town, and the brewery is situated directly on this street (West Pine Street).

If you are traveling from Jackson Hole, the drive takes about an hour and a half (approximately 160 km). From the town of Riverton, the journey is about 80 km. For those already in Pinedale, the brewery is within walking distance of many local hotels and shops, such as the Log Cabin Motel.

Public transport in this region is limited, so most tourists prefer to arrive in rental cars or use local taxi services. Parking for visitors is generally available next to the building.

History & Facts

The history of this location began in 1997, when LaVoie Brewery opened in a small town with a population of just 1,300 people. In 2002, the establishment changed hands: it was purchased by entrepreneur Gayle Kinnison and renamed Bottoms Up. This marked the beginning of its path to success when Strom, whose father is considered a pioneer of craft brewing in Wyoming, became the head brewer.

Under Strom's leadership, the brewery quickly gained recognition from experts. At that time, there were only five such enterprises operating in the state, and the local Strom Bomb Stout managed to stand out, winning a prestigious gold medal at the World Beer Cup in 2006. This triumph proved that even in a small town, one can create a world-class product.

After a period of decline in the mid-2000s, local residents Sean and Tamra Watts bought the business in 2008. They gave the establishment its current name—Wind River Brewing Co.—and breathed new life into it. Thanks to their efforts and the recruitment of a professional team, production volumes grew to 5,000 barrels a year by 2013, turning a small local brewery into a thriving enterprise known far beyond the city limits.

Time Needed

To fully appreciate the hospitality of the establishment, it is recommended to set aside about 1.5–2 hours for your visit. This is plenty of time to leisurely explore a tasting flight of several beers and enjoy a full dinner.

If your plans include watching a sports broadcast or attending one of the live music nights, you should budget a bit more time. The brewery is an excellent place to unwind after a long day of hiking in the nearby mountains, allowing you to relax in a cozy setting.

Working Hours

The establishment welcomes guests from Wednesday to Sunday. The brewery doors are open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, which is convenient for both an early lunch and an evening out.

Please note that Monday and Tuesday are closing days. Before planning your trip, it is recommended to check the official website or confirm the current schedule, as operating hours may change depending on the season or private events.
