Ibb, located in the highlands of Yemen at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea level, boasts a unique temperate subtropical mountain climate. Unlike the arid coastal regions of the country, this city is often called the "Green Heart" for its lush vegetation and relatively mild weather conditions that persist throughout the year.

The climate here is characterized by clear seasonality: a short, warm summer with frequent cloud cover is followed by a cool, sunny winter. Temperatures in Ibb are remarkably stable, yet the mountain terrain introduces noticeable diurnal fluctuations. May and June are considered the warmest months, with daytime highs reaching +28°C to +30°C. Even during the hottest period, nights remain refreshing, and the average temperature stays around a comfortable +22°C.

The winter period, covering December and January, brings more invigorating weather. During the day, the thermometer usually rises to +23°C, which is ideal for sightseeing, but after sunset, the temperature can drop to +8°C...+12°C. This mild winter without extreme frosts makes the region an excellent getaway from the sweltering heat of the neighboring lowlands.

Ibb is considered one of the wettest cities in Yemen. Most precipitation falls between April and September, forming a distinct rainy season. The peak occurs in August, when average rainfall reaches its maximum, and rainy days can follow one another, turning the surrounding mountains into emerald gardens.

In contrast to the wet summer, winter in the region is exceptionally dry. From November to February, rain is very rare, and sunny days outnumber cloudy ones. Snow is an extremely rare occurrence, although in January, the coldest month, brief frosts are theoretically possible at the highest points of the mountain range; however, the city usually delights tourists with clear skies and dry air.

When packing for Ibb, it is best to follow the principle of layering. Due to the high altitude and temperature swings between day and night, you will need both light cotton clothes for daytime walks and warm sweaters or windbreakers for cool evenings. If your trip is planned for the summer months, be sure to bring a reliable raincoat or umbrella, as rain is frequent during this period.

Don't forget sun protection: in the highlands of Yemen, UV radiation is particularly intense, so sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are essential. Additionally, comfortable closed-toe shoes are required for easy movement across the hilly terrain.
