About

In the very heart of Posadas lies a remarkable space where history meets contemporary art — the Vicente Cidade Cultural Center. The building itself has a unique past: it once served as a warehouse for storing the famous yerba mate tea. In the early 1990s, thanks to the efforts of a group of dreamers and cultural workers, the industrial space was transformed into a welcoming art venue. Today, it is known for its diverse halls, which host theatrical productions, puppet shows for children, and live concerts.

Visitors appreciate the center for its friendly atmosphere and high level of event organization. With a rating of 4.4, it is considered one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the Misiones province. Regular art workshops and exhibitions allow guests to experience the region's living creativity in an authentic setting.

What to Do

There is always something to capture the interest of art lovers at the Vicente Cidade Cultural Center. Visitors can enjoy theatrical plays, watch charming puppet shows (títeres), or share a laugh at stand-up comedy performances. The musical program is equally rich, ranging from intimate chamber concerts to large-scale events like guitarists' gatherings.

For those who prefer a more hands-on experience, the center offers a variety of artistic workshops (talleres artísticos). Here, you can observe sculptors and painters at work or even participate in creating your own pieces. Visual arts exhibitions and dynamic performances are updated regularly, showcasing the best works of local talent.

The evening events create a special ambiance. We recommend checking the schedule in advance to catch special events like Cine Móvil (mobile cinema) screenings or multidisciplinary projects such as "Código Arte." It is the perfect place to mingle with the creative community of Posadas and feel the true rhythm of the local cultural scene.

Getting There

Located at the corner of Belgrano and General Paz streets, the Vicente Cidade Cultural Center is situated right in the heart of the city, making it easily accessible for tourists. If you are staying in the central area, the walk to the center takes just 10–20 minutes from the main squares.

For those preferring public transport, popular bus routes run nearby along Belgrano and General Paz. A taxi ride from Posadas Airport (SMD) will take approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you are traveling by car, parking can be found on the surrounding streets, though be aware that spaces in the central zone fill up quickly. Within the immediate vicinity, you will also find cozy spots like La Cacerola or Cristóbal Café, perfect for a break before or after an event.

History & Facts

The history of this site began not with art, but with agriculture. In the early 1990s, the building that now pulses with creative life served as an old warehouse for storing yerba mate (yerba mate). After the property became state-owned, a group of enthusiasts led by stage technician Armando Ortellado set out to transform the industrial space into a cultural oasis.

Thanks to political support and the hard work of cultural advocates, the warehouse was officially converted into a multifunctional center over 30 years ago. Throughout the decades, the building has hosted thousands of events and has become a home for many of the Misiones province's most prominent musicians, sculptors, and artists.

Since 2016, the center has been managed by the city's Secretariat of Culture, maintaining its status as a cultural icon of Posadas. It carefully preserves the traditions of the past while opening its doors to the most daring contemporary performances and installations, acting as a living bridge between the region's history and its future.

Time Needed

The amount of time you should set aside for your visit depends entirely on your interests. If you plan to just take a quick look inside to see the current visual arts exhibitions or admire the architecture of the former warehouse, 1–2 hours will be sufficient.

For those who want to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere, we recommend attending a specific event. A theatrical production, music concert, or stand-up show usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. If a festival or a major workshop is taking place, you could easily spend an entire evening engaging with local artists and other guests.

Working Hours

The Vicente Cidade Cultural Center follows a visitor-friendly schedule during the week, though it is important to note the weekend hours. From Monday to Friday, the center's doors are open from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM (midnight).

On Saturday and Sunday, the center is officially closed, except for cases when special evening events or festivals are held. We strongly recommend verifying the schedule for specific performances and exhibitions in advance, as operating hours may change depending on the cultural program.
