Located in the heart of the capital's sporting life, the AIS Arena is a unique multi-purpose complex that has become a symbol of the athletic achievements Australia is proud of. It is more than just a stadium; it is the centerpiece of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, where the thrill of major competitions and the drive of large-scale shows unite under one roof.

The architectural design, created by the firm Philip Cox & Partners, is impressive in its boldness: a massive 1,200-ton concrete roof is supported by 12 steel masts and a system of 36 cables. The building is partially recessed into the ground, allowing it to blend naturally into the landscape. Depending on the type of event, the hall can accommodate between 4,400 and 5,200 spectators, while ensuring excellent visibility from every seat.
Following a major redevelopment in 2024, the AIS Arena has been transformed into a state-of-the-art space. Everything has been updated—from climate control systems to acoustic equipment. Today, the venue is ready to host tournaments in 21 sports, including basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics, while remaining a favorite venue for world-class concerts in Canberra.
