You can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the colonial past and see unique artifacts at one of the most significant cultural centers in the city of Cabo Frio. We are talking about the Museum of Religious and Traditional Art (MART), housed within the walls of a majestic historical building — the former Convento de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos. This 17th-century architectural ensemble is a striking example of colonial Baroque in Brazil.

The museum covers an impressive 620 square meters and is protected by the National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN). Since its official opening in 1982, MART has become the primary repository for the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Lagos region, bringing together history, religion, and art under one roof.
Today, this institution is part of the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram) and attracts tourists not only for its valuable collection but also for the opportunity to walk through the grounds of the ancient monastic complex. Here, every stone breathes history, and the walls preserve the memory of Franciscan monks and important events in the city's life.
