Weather conditions in the city are clearly divided into two main seasons defined by monsoons. The dry season, lasting from November to April, is considered the ideal time for a beach holiday: rainfall is scarce, and the number of sunny days is at its maximum. During this time, the sea is usually calm and clear. From May, the weather changes, marking the arrival of the wet season, which lasts until October.

A distinctive feature of Sihanoukville's climate is the intense rainy season, peaking in July, August, and September. During these months, it can rain almost daily (up to 30 days a month), bringing a significant amount of moisture. Nevertheless, even in the rainiest period, the air temperature remains high and comfortable, and the tropical nature blooms especially brightly.

The winter period (December-February) is considered the most pleasant for European tourists: the air warms up to a comfortable 29°C during the day, creating mild conditions for a beach holiday without extreme heat. Summer months are practically indistinguishable from winter ones in terms of temperature, holding at around 27°C, however, due to rainfall, the perception of warmth may differ.

A feature of the climate in Sihanoukville is the minimal temperature difference between day and night. The difference is usually only 3–4 degrees: even on the freshest nights of January, the thermometer shows about 24.5°C, and in May, the night temperature holds at the level of 26.6°C.
