History & Facts

The history of this site began in 1922 when seven enthusiasts decided to transform the former Dames Ménard farm into a golf course. Initially, the course consisted of only 9 holes, but over time it expanded into a full 18-hole complex, becoming the heart of the region's sporting life.

Interestingly, the club's grounds are steeped not only in sporting spirit but also in historical valor. Back in 1775, long before golfers arrived, a battle took place on these lands. American forces led by General Montgomery met determined resistance here from a detachment under Captain De Lorimier.

Throughout its century of existence, Golf Club Saint-Jean has seen different eras. While attendance fluctuated during the mid-20th century, the club found its second wind in the post-war decades, becoming one of the most prestigious venues in Montérégie. Since 2015, it has officially opened its doors to the general public, maintaining the high service standards typical of private establishments.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy a round on the classic 18-hole course, guests usually need 4 to 5 hours. This timeframe allows you to complete all distances without rushing, taking into account the complexity of water hazards and the natural landscape.

If you plan to combine sport with relaxation in the scenic picnic areas or a visit to the clubhouse, it is better to set aside half a day for your visit. In the case of participating in organized tournaments or festive events, your stay at the club may extend to a full day.

Working Hours

The club is open to visitors daily, from early morning until evening. The standard operating schedule is from 06:00 to 17:00 seven days a week, allowing players to enjoy the morning coolness on the course.

Please note that the golf season in this part of Canada typically runs from spring to autumn. It is recommended to check the club's official website before your trip, as operating hours may change depending on daylight hours and weather conditions.
