If your visit falls in winter (December–February), a warm down jacket, thermal underwear, a hat, scarf, and gloves are essential, as night frosts in this part of China can be quite biting. For summer outings, choose light clothing made from natural fabrics, but be sure to include a compact umbrella or raincoat to protect against frequent monsoon downpours.
