In the heart of the popular resort island of Borkum sits a unique architectural landmark—the Borkum Water Tower and Water Museum. This majestic red-brick structure, built in 1900 in the Neo-Romanesque style, was for a long time the key to comfortable life for the islanders, providing them with clean fresh water. Today, this site in Germany is recognized as a significant monument of architecture and technology.

After an extensive restoration completed in 2023, the historical tower opened to the public in a new capacity. It is now an interactive museum complex, complemented by the modern Waterhuus building. Here, the traditions of the past meet the technologies of the future, turning a visit into an exciting exploration of the planet's most vital resource—water.
Although the tower became slightly shorter over time (its current height is 23 meters), it has lost none of its grandeur. Inside, visitors can expect a fascinating dive into engineering history and the chance to see the preserved massive reservoir that once supplied the entire island.
