What to Do

At Big Break Hamburg, an immersion into one of four detailed gaming zones awaits you. You can choose the classic "Jailbreak" scenario, where you must organize an escape from a high-security prison, or head into the mysterious "The Toy Maker" — a slightly dark but fascinating toy store hiding its own secrets. For sci-fi fans, there is the "Time Travel" room, where you have one hour to fix the mistakes of the past using a time portal.

During the game, participants won't just be opening locks; they will actively interact with the environment: searching for hidden clues, working with complex mechanisms, and even engaging in physical activity, such as crawling through passages. All puzzles are built on logic and team interaction, so success depends on how effectively players share ideas with each other. Game masters professionally guide the process, providing hints only when truly necessary.

In addition to solving puzzles, guests enjoy the visual and sound design. The use of video cutscenes and modern communication devices makes the adventure feel like being in a Hollywood movie. This is a great opportunity for teambuilding, as the common goal and limited time force participants to unite and show their best qualities in a stressful yet fun situation.

Getting There

The facility is located at Brandstwiete 1, in the heart of the city's business district. The entrance is inside an office building, so keep an eye out for signs near the door. The most convenient way to get there is by public transport: the nearest metro (U-Bahn) stations are Rödingsmarkt or Baumwall. From there, it’s just a 5–7 minute walk to the game center.

If you are arriving from Hamburg Airport (HAM), take the S-Bahn train to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) and then switch to the U3 line. For those who prefer a taxi, the ride from the station takes no more than 10 minutes. If you enjoy walking, the stroll from the famous port or the Reeperbahn district takes about 15–20 minutes through scenic streets.

Reaching this area by car can be difficult due to limited parking spaces. The best solution is to leave your car in one of the multi-level parking garages in the city center or use the Park & Ride system on the outskirts of the city.

History & Facts

The history of Big Break Hamburg began in 2011, when two friends who shared a passion for complex challenges and quests decided to join forces. They were inspired by the idea of creating a space where people could step away from their smartphone screens and immerse themselves in a live, tactile adventure. At that time, escape room culture was just emerging in Europe, and this project became one of the pioneers in northern Germany.

One of the center's key features is that the founders fundamentally refused to use ready-made templates. All scenarios, mechanisms, and puzzles are developed in-house by the team. This has allowed for the creation of truly unique rooms that cannot be found in other cities. Special attention is paid to balancing difficulty so that the games are enjoyable for both beginners and experienced players.

Over the years, the center has earned a reputation as one of the best places for intellectual recreation in the city. Since 2019, the technical systems have been regularly updated, with new visual effects introduced and scenarios perfected, such as the popular "Time Travel" quest. Continuous development and attention to visitor feedback allow Big Break to remain at the top of the ratings for many years.

Time Needed

For a standard visit to Big Break Hamburg, it is recommended to set aside about 1.5–2 hours. The net game time in each room is 60 minutes; however, an additional 30–40 minutes are required for registration, a mandatory safety briefing, and an introductory part to immerse you in the story.

If your group plans to complete several quests at once or if you are visiting as a large group for a corporate event, you should allow for 3–4 hours. This will let you enjoy the atmosphere without rushing and discuss your successes over a cup of coffee after all the challenges are finished.
