Laxmi Vilas Palace is a true architectural masterpiece located in the city of Vadodara, in the heart of India. This majestic palace complex is considered one of the largest private residences in the world. To imagine its scale, it is enough to know that it is four times the size of Buckingham Palace and occupies a vast area of over 500 acres.
Built in 1890 for Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the palace is a striking example of the Indo-Saracenic style. Its appearance harmoniously blends elements of Mughal, Islamic, and European architecture. The project was designed by British architect Major Charles Mant, who succeeded in translating the ruler's grand ambitions into stone. Inside the palace, there are more than 170 rooms, richly decorated with mosaics, chandeliers, and works of art. The crowning jewel of the interior is the grand Durbar Hall, where you can see exquisite artworks and Venetian mosaics.
