The Museum of Natural History, officially known as the Museum of Nature and Ecology, is a unique space in the city of Uralsk dedicated to the richness and diversity of West Kazakhstan's ecosystems. Located in the historic center, it is an important scientific and educational hub that tells the story of the past and present of the Northern Caspian region's natural world.

The museum's exhibition is based on the collection of the oldest military museum and today features more than 10,000 unique exhibits. In three themed halls, visitors can see everything from ancient paleontological finds, such as mammoth tusks and teeth or skulls of prehistoric lizards, to modern specimens of the region's flora and fauna. This is a place where the history of the Earth comes to life through rare artifacts and masterfully crafted dioramas.
The museum is very popular with families with children and ecology enthusiasts. Of particular interest are the collections of minerals, fossils, and an extensive entomological collection including tens of thousands of insect species. The museum's compactness and the sequential presentation of material make it an ideal spot for getting to know the fascinating world of the steppe region.
