Instead of the usual division into winter and summer, Sibu's climate is determined by high humidity and regular rainfall. Rainy days are a frequent occurrence here: even in the "driest" months, such as July, it can rain for about 20 days, and in December and January, this figure reaches its maximum. However, tropical downpours are usually warm and are often replaced by bright sunshine, so an umbrella or a light raincoat will become your faithful companions when travelling through this picturesque corner of Malaysia.

Throughout the year, the average air temperature fluctuates within an extremely narrow range — from 26.6°C to 27.9°C. The concepts of "winter" and "summer" are quite conditional here, as significant seasonal cooling is not observed. The hottest months are traditionally April and May, when daily highs reach the mark of 31.2°C, creating an atmosphere of intense tropical heat.

The conditional "winter" period, falling in December and January, brings only a barely noticeable decrease in temperature indicators. Be sure to bring comfortable and proven shoes for long walks, as exploring the city will require a lot of walking.

Statistics show that rains in this region occur very frequently — from 20 to 30 days a month regardless of the season. Therefore, a high-quality folding umbrella and a light raincoat or poncho are absolutely necessary items in your luggage.
