St. Stephen's Church (Grote Kerk) is the primary and one of the most significant sanctuaries in the city of Nijmegen, located in the Netherlands. This majestic building, a Romanesque basilica, rises in the heart of the city, serving as its architectural focal point and an important historical monument. For a long time, it was the only church in Nijmegen.

Originally built as a Romanesque basilica, the church was enhanced with an impressive tower in the 14th century. This tower not only gives the church its characteristic appearance but also houses the highest observation deck in central Nijmegen. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the nearby Waal River, making a visit to the church particularly memorable for tourists.
The history of St. Stephen's Church is rich with events. From the original Romanesque-Gothic structure, the foundation and western sections (bays) remain. The building was significantly damaged in the mid-20th century, especially by an explosion in 1944, but was fully restored by 1969 thanks to extensive restoration efforts. Today, it remains not only an important religious site but also a popular attraction, drawing visitors with its beauty and history.
