The climate in the city of Basco can be described as tropical, yet due to its location on the northern islands, it is often windy and fresh. Unlike many other regions of the Philippines, the heat here is much easier to bear. The temperature background remains surprisingly stable throughout the year: average figures change smoothly from a comfortable 23°C in the winter months to a warm 28–29°C at the height of summer.

There is practically no distinct dry season here, although the period from February to April is considered the driest and most favorable for a visit. At this time, rains occur least often, and the sun delights tourists more frequently. With the arrival of June and right up to the end of the year, humidity rises, and the number of rainy days noticeably increases, reaching its peak in the summer and autumn months.

Travellers should note that the weather in this region can be quite changeable. Even in the warmest months, the sky can be covered with clouds bringing precipitation — statistics show more than 20 rainy days per month in the rainy season. It is thanks to this abundance of moisture that the local hills and landscapes retain their famous emerald-green colour year-round.

The climate in the city of Basco is distinguished by enviable stability and mildness, making a stay here comfortable practically all year round. Analysing temperature figures, one can notice that there is no exhausting heat or harsh cold here. The annual temperature range varies within fairly narrow limits: from average values of around +23°C in the coolest months to +28.5°C at the peak of the heat.

The coolest period can be called the beginning of the year. In January and February, the average temperature holds at the level of +23…+24°C, creating a very pleasant, refreshing atmosphere, which can be described as a mild "winter" by tropical standards. Warming comes gradually: by May the air warms up to +27°C, and the hottest days fall on June, July, and August. At this time, which can be conditionally called summer, the temperature reaches its maximum, rising to +29°C, however, thanks to the island location, the heat is tolerated more easily.

An interesting feature of the temperature regime in this part of the Philippines is the surprisingly small difference between day and night figures. Judging by statistics, daily fluctuations are minimal and often do not exceed one or two degrees. This means that tourists should not expect cool evenings even after sunset — the air remains practically as warm as during the daytime hours, ensuring a consistent thermal background throughout the entire day.

Precipitation in the city of Basco has a specific character: rains fall often here, but their volume, as a rule, is very small. Instead of powerful tropical downpours, this region is characterized by light drizzle or short light rains, which maintain the constant freshness and greenery of the local landscapes.

Such weather requires readiness for high humidity but rarely interferes with walks if one dresses appropriately.

When packing for Basco, it is worth considering that the climate here has its own features and differs from the typical tropical heat of other regions of the country. Since the temperature throughout the year fluctuates in a comfortable range from +23°C to +29°C, the basis of your wardrobe should be light, breathable items made from natural fabrics. However, due to frequent winds, especially in the period from January to March, it is strongly recommended to take a windbreaker, a thick shirt, or a light hoodie with you. The principle of layering is especially relevant here: the ability to throw something warm over a t-shirt will save you from the cool sea breeze.

Pay special attention to protection from moisture, as rainy days are not uncommon here all year round. In the period from June to December, the number of days with precipitation can exceed 20 per month, so a high-quality raincoat or a reliable umbrella will become your best friends. For walks, choose comfortable, non-slip footwear that dries quickly or is water-resistant, for example, trekking sandals or sneakers with water-repellent impregnation.

In the warmest months, such as May and June, when the air warms up to the maximum, do not forget about protection from the sun. Be sure to put sunscreen, sunglasses, and headwear in your suitcase. Note that a hat or cap should fit tightly on the head so that it is not blown away by gusts of wind, which are characteristic of this picturesque region. Such a set of things will allow you to comfortably enjoy the beauties of nature regardless of the vagaries of the weather.
