Founded in 1968, the Air Museum showcases the impressive developmental path of Portuguese aviation, covering the period from the 18th century to the end of the 20th century. Here, you can trace how technology and aircraft designs changed and what role aviation played in Portugal's history over the centuries.
The museum's exhibition space is meticulously thought out and divided into eight thematic zones. Among them, you will find a main hangar with impressive exhibits, a separate room dedicated to the national airline Transportes Aéreos Portugueses (TAP), a hall telling the story of airports and air navigation (ANA), as well as a room of historical hangars and a hall of aviation pioneers. Recently, the museum expanded, opening a new space of about 3,500 m², the opening of which was timed to a significant date—the centenary of Portuguese aviation.
