The Sri Lanka Planetarium is not just a scientific institution, but a true architectural gem adorning Colombo. As the first and only public planetarium in Sri Lanka, it draws attention with its unusual design. The building is shaped like a blooming lotus, which in local mythology symbolizes prosperity and purity.

Located in the prestigious Cinnamon Gardens neighborhood, the planetarium features a hemispherical concrete dome assembled from elegant "petals." This unique project was realized with the help of German specialists and today functions under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Inside, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of astronomy under a 40-foot dome. Following a major renovation, it now features a modern 4D projector, and the hall can accommodate up to 570 spectators. It is a popular spot for family outings and educational tours, combining scientific value with modernist aesthetics.
