Imagine a place where time seems to have stood still for centuries—that is exactly the impression Zhongshe Historical House leaves on its visitors. Located in the cozy town of Wang'an, this site is a gem of traditional architecture, carefully preserved by Taiwan on its remote Penghu Islands. It is not just a building, but the centerpiece of an ancient settlement known by the poetic name "Flower House".

The architecture of the Zhongshe house is a quintessential example of the Southern Fujian style. It clearly follows the "Doctrine of the Mean": a compact layout with a central core room, symmetrical side wings, and a walled courtyard. The use of local materials, such as coral stone and shell limestone, gives the walls a unique texture and a distinct character found only in this region.
This site is recognized as one of the best-preserved traditional residential complexes in the county. Unlike many other monuments, Zhongshe has avoided radical modern restoration, retaining its authentic atmosphere and natural charm. Walking here, you can feel the spirit of old Penghu and see how the first settlers of these rugged yet beautiful islands lived.
