What to Do

The main magnet for visitors is the seawater pools, which are open during the summer months. There are deep pools for adults as well as safe children's zones with fountains and artificial waterfalls. Please note that a swimsuit and swimming cap are required to visit the pools.

Active lifestyle enthusiasts can try their hand at surfing or kitesurfing — the season for these sports lasts from April to December. Those who prefer tranquility will enjoy a leisurely walk along the shore at low tide; this is a great time to observe tiny crabs scurrying across the sand or to have an atmospheric picnic in the wooded recreation area.

Don't forget to stop by the Ocean Museum, located within the visitor center, to learn more about the marine ecosystem. The best way to spend the evening is by the sea, watching the wind turbine blades slowly rotate against the setting sun, followed by a dinner of fresh seafood at one of the nearby restaurants.

Getting There

You can reach the coastal area from the city center by public transport. The most convenient option is Bus No. 658, which departs from the stop in front of Huiven High School. You should get off at Daan Binhai Park station, from where the park entrance is just a leisurely 5-minute walk.

For those who prefer traveling by car, the journey from Taichung takes about an hour. Take Highway No. 3 to the Dajia exit, then follow Road 132 toward the coast and turn onto Zhongshan North Road. Free parking is available near the park entrance, which is very convenient for family trips.

If you are in the neighboring areas, you can take a taxi. The ride from the famous Dajia Zhenlan Temple takes very little time, as the beach is located in close proximity to this cultural landmark.

History & Facts

The history of transforming this stretch of coastline into a modern recreational complex began with the city authorities' desire to create a comfortable place for seaside leisure. Daan Beach was originally a natural coastal area with unique dunes, but over time it was transformed into an organized 17-hectare park where natural beauty is combined with developed infrastructure.

A significant milestone in the site's history was 2016, when the International Sand Sculpture Festival was first held here. This event attracted thousands of tourists and made the location recognizable far beyond the region. Since then, holding such cultural and entertainment events has become a wonderful tradition, highlighting the beach's status as a center of attraction.

In recent years, the development of the territory has focused on eco-friendliness and family recreation. Modern seawater pools were built, an educational ocean museum was opened, and a comfortable campsite was created. Today, the park continues to evolve, offering visitors new opportunities for relaxation by the Taiwan Strait every year.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to Daan Beach, you should allow at least 3–5 hours. This is enough time to enjoy swimming in the pools, take a stroll along the sandy shore to the wind turbines, and stop by the local ocean museum.

If your plans include a full day of relaxation with a picnic, surfing, or an overnight stay at the campsite, you can easily spend the entire day here. Families with children, for whom numerous water play areas are equipped, often stay here particularly long.

Working Hours

The park is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The territory is closed on Mondays for technical maintenance. It is important to consider the seasonality: the swimming season on the beach itself usually lasts from April to October (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM), while the pools are mainly open in June, July, and August.

We recommend checking for up-to-date information on the official website before your trip, as pool hours may change depending on weather conditions and the cleaning schedule.
