The Gaziantep Covered Bazaar is not just a market, but the true soul of Gaziantep, one of the colorful centers of Turkey. This iconic landmark is a traditional Oriental bazaar where history and trade have been intertwined for centuries. Once, five covered bazaars bustled in Gaziantep, but two of the most notable have survived to this day: the famous Zincirli Bedesten and the Kemikli Bedesten. These historical shopping rows continue to attract both locals and curious travelers.

The term "bedesten" describes a special type of trading space. These are narrow and long covered galleries lined with numerous shops and stalls, originally built for active commerce. One could say that bedestens are the historical predecessors of modern shopping malls, having preserved their unique charm and atmosphere of bygone eras.
The Zincirli Bedesten (meaning "Chain Bedesten") is particularly popular among visitors to the city. This impressive market was built in 1781 by order of Hüseyin Pasha of Darende. Located in the heart of Gaziantep, it remains a bustling hub of traditional trade today, a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the authentic world of the East.
After a major restoration completed in 2008, the Zincirli Bedesten shone once again in all its glory. Today, about 80 shops are located on its territory. Here, travelers will find an incredible variety of goods: from fragrant spices, aromatic herbs, and oriental sweets to unique handmade items, colorful fabrics, and, of course, the famous local delicacies for which this hospitable region is so well known.
