How to get to Lviv

Getting to Lviv means beginning a fascinating journey to the cultural capital of Western Ukraine, renowned for its unique architecture and rich coffee traditions. The fastest way to reach the city is to take a direct flight to Lviv International Airport (LWO). This modern aviation hub is located just a few kilometers from the centre and welcomes aircraft from many countries, ensuring a comfortable start to your journey.

If direct tickets are unavailable, you can consider flying to neighbouring cities with a subsequent transfer. The nearest airports are located in cities such as Ivano-Frankivsk (113 km) and the Polish city of Rzeszow (147 km), from where convenient transport connections are established.

Travelling by rail is one of the most popular and atmospheric ways to arrive in the city. You will be welcomed by the majestic "Lviv-Main" station — a true architectural masterpiece and a major transport hub, where trains arrive daily from Kyiv, Odesa, and other corners of Ukraine, as well as international express trains.

It is also convenient to travel with a transfer through neighbouring regional centres, for example, via Ternopil or Ivano-Frankivsk. A train journey allows you to enjoy scenic views of Ukrainian nature and arrive in comfort right in the historic part of the region.

Bus services connect the city with numerous settlements, offering a budget-friendly and scenic travel option. Regular routes from the city of Ternopil cover the distance of 136 km in approximately 4.1 hours, while the journey from Ivano-Frankivsk will take about 4.7 hours.

For travellers from Europe, the route from the Polish city of Rzeszow is convenient. The bus covers the distance of 205 km in roughly 6.2 hours, making this a popular option for crossing the border and exploring the region.

Travelling by car offers the freedom to plan your route and the opportunity to enjoy the landscapes. From the city of Ternopil, you can drive there in just 2 hours (126 km), and the journey from Ivano-Frankivsk will take about 2.2 hours on a clear road.

The route from the Polish city of Rzeszow (171 km) technically takes about 2.5 hours; however, it is important to account for time spent crossing the state border. Queues at customs points can significantly increase travel duration, so please allow extra time.
