In the heart of the historic center of Lviv rises the majestic Monument to King Daniel—a monumental symbol of pride and the continuity of generations. This impressive monument, installed in 2001 on Halych Square, is dedicated to the city's founder, Prince Daniel Romanovych of Galicia. Ukraine honors this ruler as a wise reformer and protector of its lands.

A bronze equestrian statue of the Prince in battle gear atop a powerful horse is set on a high granite pedestal. The total height of the structure reaches 10 meters, and its scale is impressive: creating the monument required 9 tons of bronze and 60 tons of granite. The pedestal is decorated with the concise inscription "King Daniel" and symbols of power, highlighting the ruler's historical status.
The project for the monument was chosen based on the results of an all-Ukrainian competition in which more than twenty works participated. Sculptors Vasyl Yarych and Roman Romanovych, together with architect Yarema Churylyk, created a dynamic image of a warrior whose index finger is symbolically pointed toward descendants with a call to preserve their heritage. Thanks to its expressiveness, the monument has become one of the city's most recognizable and popular landmarks.
