Nestled among the historic quarters of Košice is a remarkable place that transports visitors to the atmosphere of the 18th-century Ottoman Empire. The Rákóczi Memorial House (also known as Rodosto) is a unique architectural replica of the house where the legendary Hungarian prince Francis II Rákóczi spent his years in exile. Located on the grounds of the ancient Executioner's Bastion, the building stands out from the European surroundings with its Oriental style, characteristic cornices, and three-story structure.

The exhibition, curated by the East Slovak Museum, is entirely dedicated to the prince's life and legacy. Slovakia carefully preserves the memory of this historical figure, and the museum's halls display authentic items from the era: from cold weapons and engravings to rare examples of coinage. The house's main treasure is the dining room, whose interior was recreated in the likeness of the Turkish original, which, legend has it, Rákóczi decorated with his own hands.
This memorial complex attracts not only military history and politics buffs but also fans of unusual architecture. Guests are greeted at the entrance by a majestic bronze statue of the prince, which has become one of the city's recognizable landmarks. The museum is rightfully considered one of the most atmospheric spots in the historic center, allowing for a deeper understanding of the complex and heroic fate of the independence movement leader.
