Imagine massive stone fortifications that have stood firm around the heart of the old city for over four centuries. The Derry City Walls are a unique monument of military architecture located in the city of Londonderry. They are the only completely preserved city walls in Ireland, maintaining their integrity since their construction in the early 17th century.

Built in Great Britain at the initiative of London guilds, these fortifications are approximately 1.5 kilometers long. In some places, the walls reach a height of 8 meters, while their thickness at the base is an impressive 9 meters. The walls are equipped with powerful bastions and seven original gates, such as Ferryquay and Shipquay, which still serve as entrances to the historic center.
Within this "stone ring" are concentrated the city's most important landmarks, including the oldest cathedral in the city, St Columb's. A walk along the top of the walls offers tourists stunning panoramic views of the River Foyle and modern neighborhoods, bridging the past and present of one of the region's most fascinating cities.
