In winter, the slopes of the rock are often used for sledding and tobogganing, turning the park into a center for winter fun.

For sports fans, all the right conditions are here: the grounds feature pickleball and tennis courts, a basketball court, as well as soccer and baseball fields. The history of this site dates back to the mid-19th century. The first mentions of the massive outcrop appear in 1847 documents under the name Rock Raymond. It is believed that the modern name "Rimmon" has biblical origins, and it was officially established for the rock by 1857. Local legends suggest that long before the arrival of colonists, Native Americans used the summit as a strategic lookout point.

For a long time, the land surrounding the rock was owned by the famous Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. In 1911, the company transferred the nearly 43-acre parcel to the city of Manchester for just $1, which allowed the park to be officially founded in 1912. Since then, this location has become an important center of community life.

During the Great Depression, as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) programs, a recreation building and a pool were constructed in the park, later known as the DuPont Pool. Although the pool was demolished in 2016, the park continues to evolve while maintaining its status as a historical landmark of New Hampshire.
