What to Do

At Good Mansion Wines, an exciting "gastronomic tour" through the rooms of the historic mansion awaits you. You can start by browsing the sparkling wine collection near the entrance, move on to Spanish varieties located by the fireplaces, or explore rare Italian wines deep within the halls. One of the main highlights is the complimentary tastings, allowing you to discover new flavors before purchasing.

Exquisite lunches are served here from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM: homemade soups, sandwiches, and the famous Alsatian flatbreads. If your visit falls on a Thursday, be sure to try the dishes during "French Thursdays," while on Fridays and Saturdays, they prepare magnificent pizzas. In the morning, guests stop by for a cup of aromatic cappuccino and freshly baked macarons or croissants.

In addition to tastings and lunches, visitors can assemble exclusive gift sets with olive oil, premium chocolate, and handmade pasta. The atmosphere is complemented by bulldog "guards" at the entrance and a perfectly manicured garden, ideal for taking Victorian-style souvenir photos.

Getting There

The venue is located at 95 14th St, in the heart of the historic East Wheeling district. If you are already downtown, the mansion is easily accessible on foot, allowing you to enjoy the historic architecture of the surrounding blocks. For those arriving from other cities, such as Pittsburgh, the drive takes about an hour.

For travelers with private vehicles, a pleasant bonus is the availability of free parking on the quiet residential block of 14th Street. You can also use taxi services or local buses that run to the central Wheeling area, followed by just a short walk to the mansion's entrance.

History & Facts

The magnificent L.S. Good Mansion was built in 1905 for Lee Samuel Good, a successful businessman and owner of a major city department store. At the time, construction costs amounted to an impressive $7,000. In 1989, the building received official recognition for its architectural value and was included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The modern history of the site began quite unusually in 2006. Engineer Dominic Paul Cerrone purchased the vacant townhouse almost by accident, without a clear business plan. Initially, he only planned to restore the utility systems and preserve the unique interior, but soon realized that the city lacked a quality wine boutique. In April of that same year, he opened Good Mansion Wines.

Over nineteen years of operation, the shop has transformed from a modest wine cellar into a true gastronomic hub. Over the years, the European wine selection has been joined by collections of rare cheeses, house-made charcuterie, and artisanal pastries. Today, the mansion serves as a vibrant symbol of the downtown area's revival, blending the spirit of the Edwardian era and modern culinary trends within its walls.

Time Needed

To fully experience Good Mansion Wines, most visitors need between 1 and 2 hours. This is enough time to leisurely explore all the rooms of the mansion, select a bottle of wine from the extensive collection, and enjoy a delicious lunch in a cozy setting.

If you are short on time and only plan to shop in the gourmet department, a visit may take about 30–45 minutes. However, we recommend not rushing so you can appreciate the architectural details of the building and perhaps catch one of the free tastings.

Working Hours

The establishment welcomes guests daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including Sundays, making it a great place to visit any day of the week. Please note that the lunch menu is available for a limited time—from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

As Good Mansion Wines is closed on some major public holidays, such as Christmas or New Year's Day, it is recommended to check the official website or call ahead to confirm the current schedule before your visit.
