History & Facts

The history of this place began back in 1870, when architect Valentin Ceconi built an elegant villa on Auerspergstraße. In the late 19th century, the building passed into the ownership of Heinrich Nowak and served as a private residence for a long time, preserving the spirit of aristocratic Salzburg.

A new chapter in the building's history opened after the mid-20th century. In 1947, management passed to Maria Nowak, who initiated a large-scale renovation. As a result of painstaking work, a guest house opened here in 1959, which quickly gained popularity for its hospitality and elegance.

Three generations of the same family have cared for the preservation of this place’s unique atmosphere. Since 1996, Bettina Wiesinger has been developing the project along with her husband Mark. Under their leadership, a careful renovation was carried out in 2018 and 2019: the lobby, winter garden, and lounge areas were updated, while preserving the manor's historical charm.

Mark Wiesinger played a special role in the modern look of the establishment. As a design expert, he personally oversaw the interior updates. He managed to harmoniously combine antique furniture with modern design solutions, creating a space where history literally comes alive in the details.

Time Needed

If you plan to stop by to admire the interiors and enjoy the atmosphere with a cup of coffee or a cocktail at the bar, 1–2 hours will be quite enough. This is plenty of time to take a leisurely stroll through the garden and observe the designer details.

For those who want a deeper immersion—for example, a visit to the spa, a yoga session, or a full breakfast with a garden view—it is worth setting aside 2 to 4 hours. This will allow you to feel the aesthetics of the place without rushing and truly relax away from the noise of tourist streets.

Working Hours

For guests staying at the hotel, access to the building is open around the clock, and the reception desk operates 24/7. However, for outside visitors wishing to visit the bar or spa, certain timeframes apply. For example, the famous breakfasts are usually served from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.

Since the schedule for the A* Bar & Lounge and the spa center may vary depending on the season, it is highly recommended to check the current hours on the official website or by phone before your visit. This will help you plan your time as comfortably as possible.
