The Monument to the Virgin of Socavón is a majestic landmark towering over the city of Oruro in the high-altitude regions of Bolivia. Located on Santa Barbara Hill, this grand sculpture reaches a height of 45 meters, making it one of the tallest religious monuments in Latin America. The image of the Virgin Mary, the patroness of miners, serves as the spiritual heart of the region and a symbol of the famous local carnival.

The 1,500-ton structure is impressive not only for its scale but also for its functionality. Tucked inside the statue are eight floors, four of which are open to visitors. Here, religious reverence and modern tourism infrastructure blend harmoniously, offering guests a unique cultural experience at an altitude of over 3,800 meters above sea level.
For travelers, this monument has become as iconic a landmark as the Christ the Redeemer statue is for Rio de Janeiro. Panoramic views from the base and the observation decks inside allow visitors to fully appreciate the rugged beauty of the Bolivian Altiplano.
