Fuquan, located in the picturesque Guizhou province of China, is characterized by a humid subtropical monsoon climate. The weather here is largely determined by the region's mountainous terrain, giving the city mild, albeit rather overcast winters, and moderately hot but very humid summers. High humidity is a constant companion throughout most of the year, contributing to the lush green vegetation in the surrounding areas.

The changing seasons are clearly felt throughout the year. Spring and summer bring the bulk of the precipitation and frequent fog, creating the mystical atmosphere that southern China's mountain regions are famous for. Autumn is often considered the most favorable time for tourists: the heat gradually subsides, and the number of sunny days increases compared to the rainy summer period.

Travelers should understand that the weather in this region can be changeable. Stable temperatures are combined with a high probability of precipitation, so when planning a trip, consider not just the thermometer readings but also the "wet" weather typical of these parts, which dictates the region's rhythm of life.

The temperature regime in Fuquan can be described as moderate, without extreme frosts but with a distinct chill due to the humidity. The coldest month of the year is January, when the average temperature is around 4.3°C. At night, the mercury can drop to 1.4°C, and during the day it rarely rises above 7.2°C. Winter here feels damp and raw, so warm clothes will come in handy in China even in the southern provinces.

With the arrival of spring in March, the air begins to warm up gradually, reaching comfortable average values of 12–15°C by April. The summer months, July and August, are the warmest time of the year. The average maximum during this period is around 28°C. While these figures may not seem too high, combined with subtropical humidity, they create a "sauna" effect, which travelers who do not tolerate stuffiness well should keep in mind.

Autumn brings long-awaited relief: in September, the average temperature stays around 21.5°C, and by October, it drops to a pleasant 15.5°C. An important feature of the climate in Fuquan is the relatively small range between day and night temperatures, which usually does not exceed 7-8 degrees, making weather conditions quite stable throughout the day.

Fuquan is a city where an umbrella will become your most sought-after accessory. Precipitation here is abundant and distributed throughout the year, peaking in May and June. June sees the maximum amount of moisture—around 291 mm—and the number of rainy days during this period can reach 22–24 per month. Summer rains often take the form of intense downpours that bring temporary relief from the humid heat.

The winter period in this region of China is significantly drier but not without precipitation. The driest month is December, with about 53 mm of rainfall. However, even then, the sky is often overcast, and a light drizzle may accompany you throughout your walk. Snow is an extremely rare phenomenon and usually melts quickly without forming a lasting cover.

A characteristic feature of the local climate is not just the volume of water, but the high frequency of "wet" days. Even in relatively dry months, such as November or January, almost half of the days in the month are accompanied by some form of precipitation. This creates conditions for constant air humidity, which averages around 78-80%, maintaining the emerald freshness of the local landscapes year-round.

When packing for Fuquan, remember that the main factor here is high humidity. The principle of layering is a golden rule for a trip to China at any time of year. For summer, choose clothing made from lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying materials, such as linen or modern technical fabrics, as cotton can take a very long time to dry due to the humidity.

Regardless of the season, a reliable umbrella or quality raincoat is a must-have accessory. Between May and August, rain occurs almost daily, so waterproof protection is a necessity, not a recommendation. For the winter months (December–February), prepare a windproof jacket or a light down coat: with high humidity, even slightly positive temperatures feel significantly colder.

Pay special attention to footwear. It should be comfortable, stable, and preferably waterproof, especially if you plan to walk around natural attractions where trails can be slippery. Also, don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses: during periods when the clouds clear, the mountain sun can be quite intense.
