Current Weather

Planning a trip? Here you will find the latest weather information for Qingzhen (China), including detailed forecasts and charts to ensure a comfortable stay.

Overview

The climate in Qingzhen, located in the picturesque Guizhou province of China, is classified as humid subtropical. There are four distinct seasons: a long and fairly humid summer, mild transitional periods in spring and autumn, and a cool winter without extreme frosts.

One of the main features of the local climate is high humidity throughout the year. Because of this, summer heat can feel more intense, while winter coolness can seem damp and biting. Nevertheless, the mild temperature conditions make this region attractive to tourists at almost any time of year.

The most favorable periods for a visit are spring and autumn, when the weather is at its most comfortable and stable. Summer brings heavy rainfall and cloud cover, which, however, provides a pleasant freshness after the hot daytime hours.

Temperature

The temperature regime in Qingzhen is characterized by moderation and an absence of sharp spikes. The hottest time of year is mid-summer, when in July and August, daytime averages are +27°C...+28°C, occasionally reaching +30°C. The warm season is long and comfortable for those who do not tolerate extreme heat well.

Winter in the region is cool but mild. In the coldest month, January, the average daytime temperature stays around +8°C, while at night it can drop to +2°C. Despite the absence of severe frosts, the high humidity can make the weather feel colder, so warm clothing should not be neglected.

Transitional seasons delight travelers with mild warmth. In April and October, the air usually warms up to +18°C...+20°C, which is ideal for long walks. It is important to consider diurnal temperature fluctuations: even in the warmest months, the difference between day and night temperatures can be as much as 8 degrees.

Precipitation

Precipitation in Qingzhen is distributed unevenly, forming a distinct rainy season that falls in the first half of summer. Traditionally, June is the wettest month: rainfall reaches its peak during this time, and rainy weather can persist for 20–21 days a month.

Summer rains often take the form of intense downpours due to the influence of monsoons. May and July are also characterized by high humidity, which makes the surrounding landscapes unusually bright and lush, but requires travelers to be prepared for sudden weather changes and frequent cloud cover.

In contrast, the winter period is considered the driest. From December to February, rainfall is minimal, and heavy rains are replaced by light mist or drizzle. Snow is extremely rare in the city and usually melts quickly since average temperatures remain above freezing.

For those who prefer clear skies and dry air, late autumn is the best time to visit. In October and November, rain occurs much less frequently, and the sky is more often clear, creating ideal conditions for sightseeing and exploring natural attractions.

Packing Tips

When packing for Qingzhen in the summer (May to September), opt for light clothing made from natural, "breathable" fabrics. Given the frequent rainfall, your faithful companions should be a compact umbrella or raincoat, as well as reliable waterproof shoes. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun on clear days.

For a winter trip (December–February), it is best to stick to the principle of layering. Although the thermometer rarely drops below zero, the high humidity requires a warm sweater, a windproof jacket, a scarf, and gloves. In spring and autumn, light jackets or fleece sweaters that are easy to remove during the daytime warming are the optimal choice.

As for practical accessories, travelers will find a universal power adapter and insect repellent (if visiting in summer) useful. Always keep a bottle of water handy and check weather app updates so that the whims of the subtropics don't catch you off guard.
