The climate in Shenmu is distinctly continental, which is typical for the inland regions of Shaanxi Province. When visiting this city in China, travelers experience sharp seasonal shifts: from freezing, dry winters to moderately warm summers with variable cloud cover.

The warm season covers the period from late May to early September, when daytime temperatures consistently exceed +20 °C. Traditionally, July is the hottest month: average highs reach +26 °C, although on some days it can rise to +30 °C, creating ideal conditions for a summer getaway.

Winter in this part of China is harsh and long. The cold period lasts about three months, with January being the coldest. When packing for Shenmu, it is important to consider the sharp seasonality and significant temperature fluctuations. For a summer trip (June – August), light clothing made of natural fabrics, shorts, and T-shirts are ideal. However, don't forget to bring a light jacket or sweater for evening walks, as temperatures drop noticeably after sunset. Essential accessories include sunglasses, a hat, and high-SPF sunscreen.
