The summer season, especially July and August, is distinguished by stable hot and dry weather. The average temperature at this time holds around 25°C, and maximum values often approach 29°C, while the probability of precipitation is minimal — just a few rainy days over the entire summer. This is the ideal time for those planning a beach holiday and boat trips.

Winter in Zadar is mild but quite humid. In the coldest months, such as January and February, the temperature rarely drops below 4-5°C, however, travellers should be prepared for frequent rains — precipitation falls for about half the month. The off-season, especially May and September, offers a "happy medium" with comfortable temperatures around 18-21°C, which is perfect for long walks and excursions without exhausting heat.

The climate in Zadar is distinguished by the mildness characteristic of the Adriatic coast, making the city attractive for visits almost all year round. The hottest month is traditionally August with an average temperature of about 25.4°C and daily highs reaching 28.9°C. January is considered the coldest period, when average figures drop to 7.2°C, however, even at this time, severe frosts are a rarity here.

Summer in Zadar can be characterized as sunny and dry. In July and August, stable hot weather prevails, ideally suited for a beach holiday. Notably, daily temperature fluctuations in the summer season are insignificant: nights remain very warm (on average about 22°C), so the difference between the daytime heat and evening coolness is felt weakly, creating comfortable conditions for long walks by the sea.

The winter period passes without extreme cold, remaining moderately cool and wet. In December and February, the daytime temperature often holds at the level of 11°C, and night-time minimums rarely fall below 4–5°C. Transitional seasons, such as May and September, delight with pleasant warmth with average values around 18–20°C, offering tourists a "happy medium" without summer heat and winter dampness.

A classic Mediterranean climate prevails in Zadar, which determines a clear schedule of precipitation throughout the year. Rains are distributed unevenly here: the main period of humidity falls on the cold time of year, while summer remains predominantly dry and clear. Snow in this coastal city is an extremely rare phenomenon, so even in winter, precipitation falls mainly in the form of rain.

The wettest months are November and December. According to statistics, the highest number of inclement days is recorded in December — about 15 per month, and in November — about 14. June and August are also favourable for tourism, with 5–6 rainy days, which makes summer the ideal time for a beach holiday on the coast of Croatia.

Transitional seasons — spring and early autumn — demonstrate a moderate frequency of precipitation. In September, October, and April, the number of rainy days usually fluctuates around 10. Precipitation at this time often bears a short-term character, quickly being replaced by sun, which allows for comfortably enjoying walks around the city.

When packing for Zadar in the summer season, give preference to light clothing made from natural fabrics, such as cotton and linen, to feel comfortable at temperatures reaching +29°C during the day. Be sure to take swimwear, sunglasses, a hat, and reliable cream with high SPF, as the sun is very active here, and rains in July and August happen extremely rarely. For walks along the cobbled streets of the Old Town and excursions to the Sea Organ, comfortable flat-soled shoes or sandals that securely fix the foot are best suited.

In the off-season and winter, the weather in this region of Croatia becomes cooler and more humid, so the principle of layering will be most appropriate. In spring and autumn, it is worth grabbing a windbreaker, jeans, and jumpers for evening walks when the temperature drops noticeably. In winter, when the number of rainy days reaches a maximum (up to 15 days in December), you will need waterproof shoes, a warm jacket, and a quality umbrella or raincoat. Given the coastal location of the city, protection from the wind will be relevant in the cold season, so a scarf and windproof outerwear will become your best helpers.
