Büyük Han, which translates from Turkish as "Great Inn," is one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Nicosia. As the largest caravanserai in Cyprus, located in the heart of the old city, it is a magnificent example of Ottoman architecture and is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful structures of its kind. Visiting this historical site allows you to touch the island's rich past.

The unique architecture of Büyük Han immediately catches the eye. The complex consists of four two-story buildings that form a spacious square inner courtyard, framed by an elegant colonnade. In the center of this courtyard stands a small but striking mosque with an ablution fountain beneath it, adding a special atmosphere and sense of completion to the ensemble.
Inside the caravanserai, there are 68 rooms. In the past, these served as a haven for weary travelers, merchants, and their caravans, as well as a storage space for goods, as Büyük Han was a vital point on trade routes. Today, it is not just an architectural monument but a living cultural space, home to craft workshops, galleries, and cozy cafes, allowing visitors to not only admire the ancient walls but also feel the modern rhythm of the city.
