What to Do

At Venus Beach, everyone will find an activity to their liking. The main draw for tourists is, of course, swimming in the emerald water. Thanks to the breakwaters, the sea here is calm, and the seabed is mostly sandy and shallow, making it an ideal spot for families with children. If you bring a snorkeling mask, you can observe schools of fish that often swim near the stone barriers.

For those who value comfort, beach equipment is available for rent. A set of two sun loungers and an umbrella costs approximately 7.50 euros, and umbrellas are often equipped with special lockable lockers for storing valuables. Guests always have access to clean changing rooms, showers, and toilets, which are closely monitored by the staff.

When you get hungry, cozy bars and cafes right across from the beach offer refreshing drinks, ice cream, and traditional Greek cuisine. If you decide to stay until evening, be sure to have a picnic: Venus Beach is famous for its breathtaking sunsets, which are considered among the best in Paphos. A walk along the coastal path in the rays of the setting sun is the perfect way to end the day.

Getting There

Reaching this slice of paradise is easy, as it is located just 2.5 kilometers from the city center. If you enjoy walking, the most scenic route is along the Coastal Broadwalk—the walk from the harbor takes about 10–15 minutes. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the sea breeze and take some beautiful photos before you even reach the beach.

For those who prefer public transport, bus No. 615, which runs between the harbor and Coral Bay, is perfect. You should get off at the stop near the Lidl supermarket, from which it's only about a 300-meter walk to the shore. This is one of the most budget-friendly and convenient ways to get around for tourists without a car.

Travelers arriving by car or taxi will also find it very straightforward: the trip from the center of Paphos takes less than 10 minutes. There is spacious parking available near the beach, and clear signs will help you find your way quickly. Its central location makes it accessible from almost anywhere in the resort.

History & Facts

Venus Beach received its poetic name in honor of the goddess of love and beauty, who, according to ancient myths, was born from the sea foam specifically off the shores of Cyprus. While the site is steeped in ancient legends, its modern history is one of a major transformation. Just a few years ago, this section of the coast was considered treacherous due to strong undercurrents and high waves.

The situation changed dramatically after an extensive renovation in which approximately 2 million euros were invested. Powerful breakwaters were installed in the sea, "taming" the elements and creating a safe haven for swimming. Thanks to these safety measures and high water quality, the beach has rightfully earned the prestigious international Blue Flag award.

Interestingly, the beach is located in an area with a rich archaeological heritage. The famous Tombs of the Kings are located right nearby, making this spot a unique combination of natural beauty and historical depth. Here, you can literally touch history just by walking along the shore where heroes of ancient epics might have once stepped.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy your time on this coast, you should budget between 3 to 5 hours in your schedule. This is plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely swim in the transparent water, soak up the gentle sun, and grab a bite to eat at one of the seaside establishments.

Many tourists prefer to spend the entire day here, especially when traveling with family. The convenient infrastructure and proximity to shops allow for a comfortable stay from morning until evening, when the sky over the sea turns incredible shades at sunset. If your goal is simply to cool off after a tour of the nearby tombs, one hour will be enough.

Working Hours

One of the primary advantages of this location is its accessibility. Venus Beach is open to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can come here at dawn to greet the morning in silence or take a moonlight stroll along the shore.

However, keep in mind that the infrastructure (sun lounger rentals, lifeguard services, and seaside cafes) typically operates during daylight hours, usually from 09:00 to 18:00–19:00 depending on the season. Outside of these hours, the beach remains a wonderful place for walking and contemplating the seascapes.
