Imagine a "vertical village" soaring above the ground on concrete pilotis, surrounded by a shaded park. This is Maison Radieuse—a remarkable creation by the great Le Corbusier, located in the commune of Rezé, right next to the city of Nantes. The building is a prime example of post-war modernism in France and embodies the idea of ideal collective housing.

The structure is impressive in its scale: at hundreds of meters long and 52 meters high, it houses 294 apartments. Each living space is designed as an independent unit with dual-aspect orientation, ensuring an abundance of natural light. Although the facades are made of stark gray concrete, bright window openings and colored balconies create a lively, joyful rhythm, living up to the complex's name (Radiant House).
Today, this complex is not just a residential building but a true architectural manifesto. A kindergarten is located on its roof, and wide corridors designed as "streets in the sky" run through the interior. Since 2001, the building has been partially recognized as a historical monument, attracting architectural researchers and tourists from all over the world with its unique blend of functionality and Brutalist aesthetics.
