The climate of the Fakarava atoll can be described as classic tropical, with wonderfully comfortable temperatures throughout the year. The warmer and more humid period lasts from November to April, when the number of rainy days increases and the air warms up to the maximum. The "dry" season, falling between May and October, is characterized by slightly fresher weather and reduced humidity, although even in the "coldest" months, such as August and September, the thermometer rarely drops below a comfortable +25°C.

A feature of the local weather is its stability. Even in seasons with a large number of rainy days, precipitation is often not prolonged, and the overall level of moisture remains low. Thanks to the absence of exhausting heat and sharp temperature changes, a journey to the atoll will be pleasant at almost any time of the year.

The concept of cold is practically absent here, and temperature fluctuations during the year are minimal. The warmest period is the season from November to May, when the average air temperature confidently holds at 26–27°C. The peak of heat usually falls in March and April: at this time, the air warms up to a maximum of 27.9°C, creating ideal conditions for lovers of beach holidays and diving.

The conditional "winter," which lasts from June to October, brings only a slight decrease in temperatures, making the weather fresher and more comfortable. The "coolest" months of the year are considered to be August and September, when average figures are around 25°C. This time is perfect for those who do not tolerate intense heat well but want to enjoy the warm ocean breeze and sunbathing without the risk of overheating.

A feature of the local climate is the surprisingly small difference between day and night temperatures. Thanks to the huge mass of the ocean surrounding the narrow strip of land, daily fluctuations are barely noticeable and rarely exceed 1–2 degrees. Even on the coolest nights, the temperature does not drop below 24.5°C, so you are unlikely to need warm clothes. Such thermal stability makes staying on the island comfortable at any time of the day all year round.

The nature of precipitation on the Fakarava atoll has its own peculiarities: rains occur here quite often throughout the year, but judging by statistics, they are not characterized by high intensity. Precipitation generally falls in the form of short-term tropical rains, which are quickly replaced by the sun and do not bring a significant volume of water measured in millimetres.

The most humid period is observed from November to April. The rainiest months are December and January, when up to 26 days with precipitation are recorded. Despite the frequency of rains, their total amount remains small (about 5–7 mm), which indicates the light nature of precipitation, resembling drizzle or a quick shower rather than prolonged downpours.

The relatively dry season in French Polynesia lasts from May to October. The "driest" month is considered to be August, when the number of days with precipitation decreases to 12, and the volume of falling moisture is minimal. This time is considered the most favourable for planning a trip if you want to minimize the likelihood of encountering rain.

When preparing for a journey to the picturesque Fakarava atoll, you should focus on stably warm weather: the air temperature here remains in a comfortable range of +25...+27°C almost all year round. The basis of your wardrobe should be light clothing made of natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to take swimwear, shorts, t-shirts, and beach cover-ups with you. Since the sun in French Polynesia is very active, do not forget to put a wide-brimmed hat, quality sunglasses, and cream with a high SPF factor in your suitcase.

Despite the eternal summer, weather statistics indicate a high probability of precipitation throughout the year, especially in the period from November to April. Even in the "driest" months, August and September, rains happen quite often. Therefore, a light raincoat or a compact umbrella will become indispensable assistants.
