In the heart of the ancient fortress preserved by the town of Chios, lies a remarkable architectural monument — the Ottoman Baths. This magnificently preserved 16th-century structure is a classic Eastern hammam and has become an integral part of the historical landscape that Greece is so proud of. The bath is unique because it is integrated directly into the defensive walls of the medieval castle, blending features of Eastern comfort with rugged fortress architecture.

This historical site attracts travelers with its authenticity and atmosphere of frozen time. Stepping across the threshold, you will see characteristic domed vaults, which in the past helped retain steam, and elegant relaxation halls. Today, the bath functions as a museum, offering guests a chance to discover the island's Ottoman heritage, where many elements of Turkish culture, including fountains and mosques, have been preserved.
The building is a rare example of how the civil architecture of the Ottoman Empire was adapted to the structure of earlier Byzantine and Genoese fortifications. Inside, you can see stone basins and the original ventilation holes in the domes, through which shafts of light pierce, creating an incredible play of shadows and the perfect conditions for atmospheric photographs.
