The Kanpur Zoo, also known as the Allen Forest Zoological Park, is one of the oldest and largest zoological parks in Northern India. Located in the industrial city of Kanpur, it is a true green oasis and a popular spot for relaxation and wildlife discovery. The zoo was officially opened to visitors on February 4, 1974, and has since been an important center for biodiversity conservation and education.
The idea for the park came from Sir Allen, a British botanist who wanted to establish a zoo in a natural forest, and the park was named after him upon opening. The uniqueness of this place lies in the fact that it was created within an actual forest, allowing animals to live in conditions as close as possible to their natural environment. Spacious open-air enclosures, dense vegetation, and the natural landscape create a sense of immersion in the wild.
