The forest covers about 13-14 hectares under a dense tropical canopy. A unique feature of this place is the towering nutmeg trees, reaching up to 40 meters, which are rarely found in such numbers elsewhere in Bali. A walk through the shady paths of this forest provides a sense of peace and connection with nature.
The main inhabitants and undoubtedly the star attraction of Sangeh Monkey Forest are the gray long-tailed macaques. There are about 700 of them here, and they roam freely throughout the territory. For locals, the forest holds sacred significance, and a special atmosphere of harmony prevails. In the heart of the forest lies an ancient 17th-century Hindu temple, Pura Bukit Sari, adding mystery and cultural depth to the site.
