In winter, particularly in January and December, the air becomes cooler, but during the day the thermometer still stays at comfortable levels around 19-20°C.

With the arrival of summer begins the rainy season, which lasts roughly from June to September. July and September stand out with the highest number of rainy days—up to 16-17 days per month. However, rainfall is often short-lived and brings welcome freshness, slightly lowering the average air temperature after a hot May. This time of year is excellent for those who prefer milder weather and are not afraid of periodic rain.

The temperature regime in Zacatecas is distinguished by its mildness and lack of extreme heat, making the city comfortable to visit in any season. The warmest period is late spring and early summer: in May and June, the average temperature is around 21°C, and during the day the air can warm up to 28.5°C. The coolest months are traditionally considered December and January, when averages drop to 12-13°C, although even in winter, daytime temperatures often reach a pleasant 20°C.

Summer in this region of Mexico can be described as moderately warm. After the peak values of May, it becomes slightly fresher by July and August, with daytime highs holding at a comfortable level of 24-25°C. By October, the intensity of precipitation begins to subside (about 7 rainy days), transitioning smoothly to the dry winter season. Despite the fact that winter nighttime temperatures can drop quite low, precipitation falls almost exclusively as rain during the summer period, so an umbrella will be useful mainly if you are planning a trip from June to September.

A trip to Zacatecas requires a careful approach to your wardrobe due to noticeable temperature changes throughout the day. The main principle to follow when packing is layering. During the day, especially in May and June, the air can warm up to 27–28°C, so light t-shirts and cotton shirts will be very appropriate. However, as soon as the sun sets, it becomes noticeably cooler. In winter (from December to February), nighttime temperatures drop to 5–7°C, so be sure to take a warm sweater, a fleece jacket, and a windbreaker to feel comfortable during evening walks.

If you are planning a trip in the summer months or early autumn, it is worth preparing for the rainy season. July and September are the wettest months, when the number of rainy days can reach 16–17 per month. During this period, a compact umbrella or a light raincoat must be in your suitcase.
